Soda & Osteoperosis

I learned something yesterday that will be of interest to our colony. I know the article you posted touched on it a bit. I am taking a Biomed Class (which is Anatomy and Physiology for Health Care Providers) and my lab instructor brought up a good point. Research is showing that Women with Osteoporosis are getting younger every year. It used to only be a "Grandma" disease. There are girls as young as 19 that have osteoporosis now and they are linking it to drinking too much soda! The Parathyroid gland is the one that regulates calcium in our bodies and in people that consume a ton of soda, it weakens it somehow or stops it from doing it's job, thereby weakening our bones! My instructor said that one can of soda depletes the calcium in one glass of milk!! HOLY COW! So I noticed, that you added "take a calcium supplement" to our list of things for points! I think that is a good idea! Just thought everyone should know, in addition to the other reasons Soda is bad, THIS is a big one too! ~Butternut Woolly Worm

I have heard that! I also have a personal theory of soda pop and cavities! The soda literally rots your teeth. Something to thing about those pearly whites that everyone sees everyday.
