I read an article last night (thanks to my father) that really hit home for me. There is a link to it on the right, titled "The Energy Drink Epidemic". Which, it's not just about energy drinks, it is about caffeine.
I will admit - I am in love with caffeine, in the form of Diet Coke and sugar free Red Bulls. It is how I survive motherhood. I love, love it!
When I had this whole idea that we are participating in, I had no intention of giving up my Diet Coke. Not yet, anyway. It has no calories, it gets me through my day, and I just love it (have I said that already?). But after reading this article, I will be stopping my mass consumption. I honestly drink 2-3 liters a day. So come Monday (I will hold out as long as possible) I will be joining those of you with caffeine headaches. I will be sad, and miss it terribly, but I will use you and your example for my strength.
When I am forwarded articles to read, I usually just skim over it. But with this, please take it seriously and read each word. This is your assignment for today.

WOW...I honestly had no idea!! I LOVE the Mtn. Dew Amps and a few weeks ago, decided to stop drinking them, no reason really, other than I knew I wanted to get healthy again!
I used to believe that I couldn't go a day without it...but I have survived! I thought that they were good substitutes for meals. They filled me up and made it so I wasn't hungry for a long time.
It didn't take me long to realize I was really gaining weight and not losing it! GRRRRR!
I have gone off the regular Mountain Dew now as well...the headaches are horrible though!! I know that if I don't do it this way I will never get off...
So for those of you that see me on a daily basis, I am sorry, I will be very grumpy for a while, please bear with me!!!
Anyway...thank you Nat for your motivation on this! I will be forever grateful! Much love!
WOW....it just occurred to me after reading the article that I have not had stomach problems since I stopped drinking soda! YAY!!!
I stopped my daily 32 oz+ Dr. Pepper habit COLD TURKEY on New Year's Day, and am happy to say that although I have been a b it grumpy, I have had NO HEADACHES! Maybe I'm just lucky, but I am glad!
I applaud all of you ladies for giving up the soda pop and caffeine drinks. It can be really hard, but well worth it in the end! I am cheering you guys all the way!
I'm running behind today and still need to read the article. I wanted to pass along a great site I just found while looking up nutritional info for foods I commonly eat. (Ok, so I'm a little OCD about some things). You may find it helpful in looking up info on almost any food you can think of:

Okay, will read the article tonight (after kids are settled).
